 175 – Our Connection

We have a connection to everything in the Universe.  If we are aware of this, it helps keep our line open to the energy that helps guide us as we travel our life map.

174 – Keep an Open Line

How often do you communicate with the Universe?  I try to keep an open line so I am constantly aware of the support that is there for me.

173 – Trusting Your Inner Voice

You have an intuitive voce that speaks to you from within.  It can take courage to let this voice find its way outside to help others.

172 – Sacred Partnership

As you move forward on your goals for the future, you may want to consider that you are a part of a sacred partnership.  You have the resources to help you reach your soul’s potential.

171 – Remember to Feel Joy

As we move forward on our life plan, it is easy to forget to include joy in our sacred purpose.  May you feel and spread joy.

170 – Laying Out a Trail

When we lay out trails in the woods, we go from Point A to Point B using flagging tape to help us stay on track.  You have a wonderful guidance system with you to help you lay out your life course.

169 – More on Commitment

It is very easy to give up when the going gets harder.  That is the time to turn to your belief in your original purpose and ask the Universe to help guide you in the right direction.

168 – Commitment

After you have decided on a plan, you need to make a commitment to have it become a reality.  If you truly believe in the project and for the good of others, the Universe supports your commitment.

167 – It’s Time to Start

Now is the time to take the steps necessary to become in tune with your life purpose.  It is a time to honor your sacred contract with the Universe.

166 – Planning Your Garden

This is the time of year to plan.  Many of us are thinking of our gardens, either vegetable or flower.  It is also time to plan your soul’s garden that will bring pleasure to those who visit it.

165 – A Breath of Spring Air

Finally the air outside smells of spring.  It is damp, heavy, and yet crisp.  You can always get a breath of spring air when you pause and reach out to the Universe.

164 – Sugar Snow

This time of year maple syrup dripped over a fresh coat of light snow tastes mighty good.  It is possible to have a pleasant experience when we combine the adversities and interruptions of life with the synchronicities of the journey.

163 – Bringing the Outside In

This time of year people often cut branches of pussy willows and other flowering trees and bring them inside, placing them in water to force the blooms.  We can surround ourselves with reminders of the outdoors to help ourselves escape to a season ahead and find peace of mind.

162 – Mud Season

We are about to enter mud season here in the White Mountains.  It is a time when one needs to watch out that they do not get stuck.  We also need to be aware of getting stuck as we travel our life map.

161 – Changing Seasons

The seasons are changing.  To get a glimpse of warmer weather people from this region go South.  We can always change our seasons by asking for Universal guidance.

160 – Boiling Down the Sap

It takes 40 gallons of maple sap to make one gallon of maple syrup.  To accomplish your best work it sometimes takes patience to boil down the ideas that are given to you by the Universe.

159 – Nature’s Way of Pruning

Nature has several ways of pruning trees to help make way for new growth.  This time of year strong winds blow down debris and even whole trees that are weak and unable to stand up to the force of the gale.  The Universe has of way of pruning and shaping us as we travel along our soul’s map.

158 – Hot and Cold

This time of year the temperature can be warm some days and cold the next as winter and spring clash.  The same is true in our lives.  We can find balance through Universal loving energy.

157 - Spring

It arrived in the night although you wouldn’t know it by looking outside.  Yet there is hope now that winter will soon depart.  There is also the opportunity to hope and plan in our lives.  It’s spring!

156 – Collecting the Sap

Another rite of spring is collecting maple sap to made syrup.  It takes 40 gallons of sap to make one gallon of syrup.  If you don’t gather your creative energy when it is flowing, others will never enjoy it.

155 – Rushing the Season

It is tempting this time of year to rush the season, expecting it to be warm and spring-like every day.  Winter may have other ideas.  We also try to rush our lives along which can take us off course on our soul’s journey.

154 – Bumps in the Road

One of the rites of spring is encountering many bumps in the road.  They are known as frost heaves.  They appear every year as the frost works its way out of ground, and you need to drive slowly.  Life has many bumps in the road also.

153 – The Unexplainable

How do you explain the unexplainable?  We have experiences in our lives all the time all the time that are real but there is no scientific explanation as to how they occurred.  What’s your answer?

152 – Out of Hibernation

Soon the animals that hibernate for the winter will be coming out of their dens.  We are also coming out of hibernation and joining in life again.  This is a time when your soul is becoming aware of its ancient assignments.

151 - Source of Power

150 years ago water was the source of power that ran the bark mill that used to exist near our house.  It was used seasonally, as spring was the time when the water flow was the heaviest.  Your power is with you all the time to propel you along your soul’s journey.

150 – Changing the Message

Thoughts are a form of reality.  When we have negative thoughts, we can create negative energy within ourselves.  Thoughts can affect our entire being.

149 – Moving a Mountain

I had a relative back a hundred years ago who actually moved a mountain by working night after night until the sun shone later in the day on the place where he lived.  It took dedication to achieve his purpose and the willingness to move one rock at a time.  You too can move a mountain if you choose.

148 – Hope Springs Eternal

Less than two weeks to spring according to the calendar.  It is a season filled with hope.  When you connect to the loving energy of the Universe hope springs eternal.

147 – Tracking Spring

This is the time of year when I begin to look for the melting snow on the sunny side of a hill.  The receding snow reveals more grass every day.  It is the time of year when you can feel the movement of energy stirring inside yourself.

146 – Cabin Fever

This is the time of year when people are feeling the urge to get out of the house and get involved in life again after the hard winter.  What is calling you?

145 – Spring Planning

This is the time of year when people go to home, garden, boat, and camping shows to plan out their summers.  It is also time to consider the plans for your soul’s journey.

144 – Relieving the Weight

This has been the year to shovel the roofs to release the heavy weight of the snow.  Unfortunately many acted too late, and their buildings have collapsed.  Fortunately the loving energy of the Universe can help relieve the weight of life.

143 – Warming Trend

Now that the sun is getting higher each day, it provides more warmth to the earth’s surface.  It is time to look forward to the melting of the snow.  There is always warmth in the Universe’s loving energy.

142 – March Winds

The March winds are blowing here in the foothills of the White Mountains.  Yet, the sun is warm.  The loving energy of the Universe can help you find shelter from the “winds of life”.

141 – Looking Out the Window

What do you see when you look out your window?  Do you have a pleasing view of your life?  You have the opportunity to change your view if you open to the guidance of the loving Universe.

140 – March Madness

It is the first day of March, a time to anticipate spring, even though there are several weeks of winter left.  It is a time to feel joy and celebrate the upcoming change of seasons.

139 – Passing It On

We are passing on energy every time we speak, think, or breathe.  That energy can have a strong effect on others, both positive and negative.  What kind of energy do you pass on?

138 – A Good Pair of Boots

A good pair of boots can make a difference in how you experience winter.  In life it is also important to feel the comfortable warmth of the loving Universe.

137 – Use Your Gifts from the Past

You were born with special abilities that have been shaped by your life experiences.  Do you know what they are?

136 - It’s Karma

Do you know what Karma is?  It is unresolved issues from your past.  That past may cover many lifetimes.

135 - Patterns

There are many patterns to observe in nature.  We also follow patterns in our lives.  The Universe can help keep our patterns positive as we journey along our soul’s path.

134 – Self Talk

Walking the trails, I often have a conversation with myself.  It is very easy to get into a negative conversation.  I rely on the Universe to be a positive balance.

133 – Feeding the Birds

It is interesting to observe the patterns of birds at the feeders.  After a storm they can disappear until another brings them back again.  They are constantly searching for a food source.  Our source of soul nourishment is the loving energy of the Universe.

132 – Total Eclipse

Last night the moon experienced a full eclipse.  It was impressive to watch.  We are often eclipsed by others’ negative energy but if we reach to the unconditional love of the Universe it will soon shine through the darkness.

131 – Another Day, Another Adventure

Every time I set foot into Nature, it is a new adventure.  Your next adventure on your soul’s journey is about to begin.

130 – Life Stories

Each one of you has a life story that could be shared with others to help them gain perspective as they travel on their soul’s journey.

129 – Early Influences

I remember nature stories being read to me in school and at home that influenced my love of nature.  What influenced you early in your life and how does this come into play as you journey along your life map?

128 – Your Next Adventure

Every time I step foot into Nature there is always an adventure waiting to happen.  The sights, sounds, and smells bring my senses alive.  So too in life, the next moment has the potential of an adventure as you follow your soul’s purpose.

127 – Life Goes On

Life goes on in Nature regardless of the weather conditions.  It does for all of us, and there is always an adventure waiting in the next moment, especially when you are aware that you have a soul purpose.

126 – Routines

We all have routines that we follow.  One of mine is my walk and another is doing the podcast.  One of the best routines we can have is staying in contact with positive universal energy.

125 – Holding Patterns

Many people are currently trying to make moves in their lives and feel they are being held up by something.  It is as if we are all in a holding pattern waiting for our next assignment.  Patience, trust and belief in the Universe will help us wait until it is time.

124 - Freedom

For me Nature symbolizes freedom.  I love being able to look out over the land or the vast ocean that seems to go on forever.  The same is true in looking towards the heavens on a starry night.  That freedom is always there for you when you reach out to the loving energy of the Universe.

123 – The Master Plan

We have a master plan for the woodland that is updated from time to time.  I also believe

that we all have a master plan for our soul, and it is updated every lifetime.

122 – Piling It On

More snow.  It just keeps piling up.  Many of us feel the same way about life.  Things just keep piling up.  Remember, spring and hope are in the near future.

121 – Being in the Right Place at the Right Time

Do you wonder if you are in the right place in your life?  Many people are currently where they do not want to be and do not consider that they might be where they are for specific reasons to help others.  As you become in tune with your soul’s purpose, you will realize that you are placed in the right place at the right time.

120 – Abandoned Dreams

Many people have tried to work and settle the land only to give up and move on.  At the same time all of their efforts have become part of the environment.  All of your old dreams are still part of your landscape.

119 - The Sinking Log Pile

There is a massive pile of saw logs on the property that was abandoned by a previous owner.  The potential of creating many boards to build houses was never realized.  At the same time as the log pile rots and sinks into the ground, it has become home to many insects and animals.  It still has value to the environment.

118 - Above the Clouds

It’s another cloudy and snowy day here in New Hampshire with no rays of the sun in sight. Yet I know that above the clouds the sun is shinning.  Remember that the love of the Universe is also shining above the clouds in your life and will soon break through in beautiful rays to wash over and around you.

117 - Different Conditions

There are many types of snow conditions here in the mountains, ranging from light to wet and heavy.  We also encounter many different conditions as we follow our life path. Universal love can help us continue.

116 - Choosing Your Path

I have several choices of paths that I can walk each day.  So do you as you walk the pathway of your soul’s purpose.

115 - Wind in the Pines

When I approach the summit, sometimes I am greeted by the loud sound of the wind as it blows through the pines.  We have many different winds that blow through our lives.  Some are strong and others are soft.  Many you be in tune with these often changing currents.

114 - We Are Not Alone

When I am alone in nature, I am usually aware that I am not far from civilization.  So too in life, we are never alone even though we may feel isolated.  The power, love and guidance of the Universe is always with us.

113 - Turning Another Corner, Feb. 1, 2008

Today we enter the second month of 2008.  This should be an exciting year full of changes.  We are all turning corners in our lives.

112 – Happiness

I love being out in nature.  It makes me happy, and I try to carry that feeling into the rest of my day.  What makes you happy?

111 – Keeping Track

This time of year it is easy to keep track of the animals that wander in and out of the woods by the tracks in the snow.  There are also indicators along the pathway of our souls that show us we are on the right trail.

110 – Breaking Trail

I am fortunate that there are people who walk and snowshoe our trails, and usually by the time I am ready, the path through the snow is already packed and easy to hike.  The Universe often breaks trail for us, making it easier to be in tune with our purpose.

109 How Are You Preparing?

How are you preparing for your role in the future?  Are you working with the mind, body, spirit, and emotional parts of yourself?

108 – You Can Change Your View

If you find yourself viewing life in a way that just doesn’t feel right, you have the strength of the Loving Universe waiting to help you make the change.

107 – Trust and Believe

One of my positive affirmations is TRUST AND BELIEVE.  They are part of the basis that helps me move forward in life.

106 - Hope

How do you find hope?  What speaks to you when there doesn’t seem to be any?  I believe the Universe can give us the opportunity to have hope as we move along our soul purpose path.

105 – Hidden Realities

Many realities go with you to help guide you and your soul purpose that are not always experienced on the conscious level.  Do you pay attention to them?

104 – Getting a Little Help

Sometimes we all need a little help to wind up with positive results.  I recently needed a little prescription to help me overcome an infection in my lungs.  We have Universal help with us if we choose to accept and expect it.

103 – Being in the Right Place

Do you wonder if you are in the right place in your life?  Many people are where they don’t want to be and do not consider that they may be where they are for specific reasons to help others.  As you become in tune with your soul’s purpose, you will realize that you are placed in the right place at the right time.

102 – Caught in a Loop

It may seem that this time a year you are caught in a loop of repeating actions dealing with winter.  The loop is constantly changing and expanding if you choose to see it.  So to is your life constantly changing and expanding as you follow your soul’s purpose.

101 – Be Aware of Your Assignment

Just as our winter travel is often planned around the weather, the Universe coordinates our life plans.  If you are aware that you are always on assignment, it can help make your soul’s journey a rich and exciting one.

100 – Podcast #100 Reflection

Podcast 100 is a good time to reflect on the original purpose of Message From the Mountain and reaffirm my belief that these messages are presented by a Universal Force for each of you to consider.

99 – Take a Fresh Breath

When I haven’t been able to get out on the trails for a few days, I realize how important it is to stop and take a deep breath of fresh air.  Whenever you are caught up in Life, stop and take a breath of fresh air, if only in your mind.

98 – Rewiring for the Future

How are you readying for the next four years leading to 2012?  I have found that it is necessary to prepare myself mentally, spiritually, physically an emotionally for the transition.  Each one of us will have our own course to follow, and the Universe is ready to help guide you.

97 – A Time to Dream

The middle of the winter is a wonderful time to make plans and dream of spring.  These plans could help be a way to help you become in tune with your soul’s purpose.

96 – Starting Over & Over Again

Another snowstorm, and another chance to make peace with winter.  We shovel the walks again and pile up the snow waiting for the next wave to hit us.  Life can be like that in many ways, always trying to get ahead and falling further and further behind.  Yet there is hope and beauty of the changing seasons to come that can help us persevere.

95 – Contemplations on a Winter Morning

Another snowstorm is unleashing its wintry load on NH.  As I watch the flakes dissolve in the brook, I wonder where the drops of liquid will wind up.  There is always an adventure waiting to happen if we take the time to contemplate and dream about it.

94 – Changing Patterns

We are stuck with the patterns of the weather as long as we stay in a specific area.  We can change the patterns of our life with universal unconditional love.

93 – January Thaw

It has been a wonderful week here in New Hampshire with temperatures far above normal, providing a hint of what will be coming in a few months.  In the meantime we can keep feeling hints of spring in our minds as we endure the cold of winter.

92 – The Power of Your Mental DNA

Your mind is very powerful, and using your mental DNA to its fullest capabilities can help you achieve positive goals as you follow your soul purpose.

91 – Your Mental DNA, Part 5 - Taste

This is the last in a 5-part series on understanding the Nature of Your Being.  This message focuses on your sense of taste.

90 – Your Mental DNA, Part 4 - Smell

This is the fourth in a 5-part series on understanding the Nature of Your Being.  This message focuses on your sense of smell.

89 – Your Mental DNA, Part 3 - Kinesthetic

This is the third in a 5-part series on understanding the Nature of Your Being.  This message focuses on your kinesthetic sense.

88 – Your Mental DNA, Part 2 - Hearing

This is the second in a 5-part series on understanding the Nature of Your Being.  This message focuses on your hearing sense.

87 – Your Mental DNA, Part 1 - Seeing

This is the first in a 5-part series on understanding the Nature of Your Being.  This message focuses on your visual sense.

86 – A Single Tree in the Forest

You are like a single tree in a forest of millions of trees.  You are unique, and there is no other person like you, just as every tree in the forest is unique.

85 – Permission to Succeed

Many people find it much easier to fail than to succeed.  Failure is familiar, and they may fear risking success.  It is OK to give yourself permission to be guided by your team and accept success on your soul’s journey.

84 – Looking for Daylight

This time of year I find myself keeping close track of daylight.  I study the weather report to see if we have in fact extended it another minute or two since the day before.  When you look around you, there is daylight to be discovered as you progress along your soul’s journey.

83 – A Clean Slate

This is the time of year that people make resolutions and plans for the future.  Unfortunately many give up after a short time.  Every day (and every moment) in time provides an opportunity for a clean slate.  Just as the buds have already been set on the spring flowering plants and trees, you are also planting seeds for the future as you become in tune with your soul purpose.

82 – Happy New Year

As 2008 begins, it is a wonderful time to set goals for becoming in tune with our life purpose preparing for the exciting times that are ahead over the next four years.

81 – Stuck In A Rut

This time of year many people feel like they are stuck in a rut, just like the ruts that have frozen into the country road I walk.  You have the opportunity to change the ruts in your life if you choose.

80 – What’s In Your Back Seat?

The back seat of my truck is filled with stuff that I might need on my winter walks.  There is a facemask for cold, creepers to keep me from slipping on the ice, a ski pole to help with my balance, etc.  As you walk through life, what do you take with you to help keep you in balance?

79 – Creeping Along

When the footing is slippery, I put on creepers to help me move along the ice.  Many times we feel that we are creeping along in life.  In life we have support from the teams that go with us to help us keep our firm footing.

78 – Stark Beauty

There are many beautiful images to observe in a gray-white winter landscape if one takes the time to focus in on them.  There are also wonderful and beautiful things to observe in your life if you allow you allow yourself the time to discover them.

77 – Living in a Picture Perfect World

Today was like walking into a postcard as I wandered down the old country road.  However, winter is also a lot of work, even while appreciating its beauty.  May you be able to appreciate the beauty of your world.

76 – Walking on Ice

Winter can bring about slippery footing, especially after a thaw and refreeze, so we have to be careful walking.  We also need to be vigilant in life as we walk our soul’s purpose.

75 – Peace

Today is the day that Christians celebrate the birth of Christ.  However, many other religions also have specials days this time of year.  Imagine what it would be like if the whole world paused to feel Peace and Love.

74 – The Old Wood Pile

There are a couple of old woodpiles on Kyle’s Trail that were cut by a friend of mine when he still had a wood stove.  Having a good supply of wood in reserve is like having options in your life, such as gifts and talents to use when you need it.

73 – Battling Winter

For many people Winter is a struggle or a battle.  We fight the snow, the cold, and long nights.  Yet there are many beautiful aspects of Winter if one allows themselves to look beyond the negative.  Life also can seem like a battle at many times.  There is always the opportunity to look beyond and see positive discoveries that are waiting for you.

72 – Turning the Corner – Dec 22, 2007

Today on December 22nd we turn the corner, and for the next six months we’ll see an increase in daylight every day.  It is the excitement of anticipated Spring that helps the winter pass.  Every day we also have the opportunity to turn the corner in our lives, creating new beginnings to help us be in tune with our life purpose.

71 - Long Nights – Dec 21, 2007

We are now at the darkest time of the year where nights are the longest.  The animals and birds that rely on daylight have to scurry about getting food, but the nocturnal ones now are enjoying the longer periods of darkness.  During these long nights you also have the chance to plan and look forward to the days becoming longer.

70 – Dark Days – Dec 20, 2007

As we approach the shortest day of the year, dusk comes in late afternoon.  Sometimes on a cloudy stormy day, we seem to be in twilight all day long.  Have you ever felt as if you were in a twilight zone in your life as one day leads to another?  Out of the darkness comes hope, and we always have hope when we trust the Universe.

69 – What Crunches in Your Life?

Today’s walk was over a thin layer of fresh frozen snow that crunched loudly with each step.  I am sure there wasn’t an animal within a half-mile that did not hear me coming.  Yet it was a unique fresh sound.  What crunches in your life?  What speaks to you, and what actions give your heart satisfaction?

68 – Listen to Your Voices

Many voices speak to me in Nature – the birds, animals, insects, wind – even the creaky sound of two trees rubbing against each other.  Each one has a voice.  You are made of many parts, and each one has a voice.  You always have the opportunity to listen to them in the stillness of the sacred space in your mind.

67 – Finding Color in a Black & White Landscape

You don’t see much color this time of year when you walk through the woods.  Gray tree trunks, dull browns, and dark greens are about all I see.  Yet when I take the time to look closer, the beach and oak leaves still remaining do add color, and each one is a different shade of brown.  Have you ever felt that there was no color in your life’s landscape?  I believe if you look a little closer, you will find that there is always color and hope.

66 - Looking Through the Window

There are days this time of year when it is difficult to go out and walk the trails.  Today is one of those days with a major snowstorm covering the region.  It is a chance to look through our own windows into the journey of our souls.

65 – A Mini-Retreat

Walking the trails is a great chance for me to retreat into Nature and come back refreshed and ready for the day.  Wherever you are, you can create your own mini-retreat.

64 – Starting Fresh

Today there is another coat of snow on the ground, and again my mind reflects on the opportunity to make fresh tracks.  I can see where different animals are moving about, and we have the same opportunity every day to make new footprints on our soul’s journey.

63 – The Old Country Road

My walk today is on an old country road connecting to our property that was built a couple hundred years ago.  We are thankful for our neighbor who not only keeps the road open with his tractor but also clears the parking lot for the trailhead.  The solitude of this road is a great place to reflect.

62 – A Winter Walk

It takes a lot of preparation to go for a winter walk.  It is very tempting sometimes to stay in the comfort of a warm house.  However, once you venture out into the beauty of Nature, it is worth the effort.  Sometimes in life it takes a little effort to find peace and solitude.

61 – Winter’s Insulation

A blanket of snow actually provides insulation to everything it covers.  The frost cannot penetrate as deeply into the ground, and hibernating animals are protected.  It is always important in our lives to have a blanket of insulation to protecting us, and that can come from the unconditional love of the universe.

60 – Signs & Synchronicities

Many people have signs that guide them through life.  These signs affirm to them that they are on the right path, and may be the sighting of an animal or bird over and over again.  What signs do you have to help guide you along your soul’s journey?

59 - The Old Cedar Tree

As far as I know, there is only one live cedar tree on the entire property.  It stands alone amongst a forest of other trees.  Many of you, as old souls, may feel alone in your travels even when other people surround you.

58 – Transitions

Human life and Nature are in constant transition.  This podcast is dedicated to the memory and life work of my dear friend and colleague Bill Gibson.

57 – Hidden Treasures

There are many hidden treasures on the property.  The rock contains quartz and mica that reflect the sparkle of the sun.  Also, someone hid a letterbox, and clues are posted on www.letterboxing.org.  You too are carrying hidden treasures in your soul.

56 – Sunshine Warmth

The trails on the north side of the property feel colder because the trees block the sunshine until later in the day.  However, there is one place coming back down Kyle’s Trail that is sheltered and always feels warmer when the sun is shining.  In life there is always a warm ray of love and hope from the universe if you choose to allow it to shine on you.

55 – Gray Days

Today the air is cold and heavy, and the sky is gray.  There is flatness to the landscape because there are no shadows to help create a three-dimensional look.  And yet, on further examination, there are many interesting things to observe.  When you have a gray day, there is always something to discover that will add more dimension to your life.

54 - Fresh Start

Today the ground looked as if Nature sprinkled it with powdered sugar, a thin coat of new snow.  Everything looked fresh and new.  You always have the opportunity for a fresh start.  Bring something new and positive into your life.

53 – Looking Back

Gazing into the mountains from Kyle’s Trail, one might imagine looking back 200 years.  The connection between the old and the new is very strong.  You too have a strong connection to your past.  You have many gifts and talents that you can update to your life now.

52 - Tree Shapes

Trees grow in many different shapes depending on how their young lives began.  If they are crowded for light, they grow tall quickly and if they grow in the open, they spread out.  We too have been shaped by the way we grew, but we always have the opportunity to make corrections because we are constantly pruning with new thoughts and ideas.

51 - Solitude

Today is one of those days where the wind covers up the sounds of existence beyond the woods.  I feel myself in the beautiful solitude of Nature.  My goal is to take this solitude with me wherever I go.  Can you find a beautiful solitude inside of yourself?

50 – Creatures of Habit

We are all creatures of habit, both animals and humans.  It is easy to develop bad habits or lazy habits as well as good habits.  I chose to create the habit of walking in nature every day.  I carry a camera and look for unique things to photograph.  Are you in the habit of communicating with nature and the universe?

49 – Take a Deep Breath

Sometimes when I do a podcast it sounds like I’m too close to the microphone and I sound breathless.  I realize that thoughts often come to me while I am pausing and taking a deep breath.  How often do you stop to take a deep breath and communicate with the nature of your being?

48 – A Terrarium

My grandmother used to collect mosses and greens in the fall and put them in a bowl with berries, creating a woodland terrarium that would last for the winter.  It was a way for her to bring nature into her house.  We can bring objects into our lives that anchor us back to a positive experience.

47 - Thoughts on the Trail

When I begin my walking meditation on the trail, many thoughts flow through with ideas that could lead to a podcast.  Often those thoughts will evolve, as in this podcast.  What I thought was going to be the subject when I started was not what I finished with.  In life one thought leads to another thought as we evolve along our path.

46 – Solid Ground

Today the ground is solidly frozen beneath my feet.  It crunches with every step.  It will remain this way on most of the trail for the entire winter season, but at other times of the year, especially in the spring, the ground can become very mushy and hard to walk on.  The more in tune you are with the unconditional love of the universe, the more prepared you are to walk on ground of any kind.

45 - Surprises

While I was on my walking today a partridge (also known as a ruffled grouse) exploded into flight a short distance away.  I am used to them doing it, but it is still always a surprise.  It can catch you off guard.  Just as in nature, life has many surprises, and the more prepared you are for them (just as knowing there might be a partridge), the easier it is to navigate along your life path.

44 – First Snow

The first snow has arrived, and today the ground is covered with a white blanket.  The view of the landscape has completely changed, and our lives are an ever-changing landscape as well.

43 – Thankfulness

Today is Thanksgiving Day in America and a great time to reflect from this very sacred space in the mountains.  There are many things to be thankful for.  It is easy to miss the small things in life that are special, and all of us, if we are aware of observing the nature of our life path, will find things to be thankful for.

42 – Getting Ready for Winter

We have to do many things here in New Hampshire to get ready for winter.  One of the things I have to do is make sure the old tractor battery is charged and will start, and it did.  In life we also have the need to prepare for changes of seasons.  Those who do not stay in tune may find themselves trying to catch up.

41 - Stay Alert

When you walk through the woods, there are many little hazards waiting to trip you up.  They could be the slippery leaves, stubs, rocks or roots on the trail, to say nothing of falling branches on windy days.  As you walk the trail of life, you also want to be alert for hazards that may take you away from your life purpose.

40 – Layers

Today was a virtual kaleidoscope of ever-changing views of the mountains with layers of clouds and mist constantly moving.  There is also a fresh layer of leaves on the forest floor that will decompose and become a part of the soil.  Our soul memories also have many layers, and as you become aware of looking through them, you will reunite with gifts and abilities from your past.

39 – Sounds of Life

This time of year the frozen ground crunches as you walk on it in the forest.  It is loud enough to be heard some distance away.  There are many different sounds in the woods that can give clues to what might be there with you.  So too are there many different sounds that can help guide us in our own life, such as our inner voices.

38 – Finding Boundaries

Our land is marked around its perimeters, and when we first purchased it, some of the boundary lines were hard to find.  It took the experienced eye of a forester to see the old blazes on the trees.  We have boundary lines in our lives to help guide us on our paths.  The more experience we have in recognizing them, the easier they become to follow.

37 – The Environment

We have a responsibility to take care of the environment.  Some people choose not to respect the land while others nurture it.  We also have a responsibility to our own environment to take care of our mind, body, and spiritual parts to be in tune with the universe.

36 – Nature’s Ever-Changing Beauty

Today was our first heavy frost, and I was struck by the incredible beauty where Nature’s paintbrush painted the leaves, moss and grass with intricate designs.  There is always something beautiful to see, and it is constantly changing.  So too is our own nature.  In order to see the beauty in Nature, one needs to be there when the frost is on the ground.  For other people to see the beauty of your nature, it takes a willingness to allow yourself to present it to others.

35 – Ancient Mountains

As I look out at the profiles of the ancient mountains that have remained in this form since the Ice Age, I am aware that we also have an ancient connection to the Universe through our souls.  That connection is becoming more and more clear as we move forward into an age of enlightenment.

34 – Loving Nature

What part of Nature do you like the best?  Trees?  Landscape?  Animals?  Birds?  Most of us have something that we really identify with in nature, and yet at the same time, many of us at times in our lives have been afraid of it.  We are part of Nature, and it is important to treat ourselves with the same respect we treat Nature.

33 – Approaching Storm

I have a knee that tells me when the atmospheric pressure is changing, indicating that a storm is approaching.  There are also signs from the Universe, if we chose to recognize them, that help us stay in tune with our soul purpose.

32 – Maintenance on Your Life Plan

If we don’t keep the brush down on our walking trails every year, they would soon disappear back into the forest.  Many of them I maintain with my aluminum ski pole that I use as a walking stick during the summer months.  When I move along, I whip the stick at the tender new growth to keep the trail open.  Your life path also needs constant maintenance by taking the time to communicate with the universe.

31 - Create & Implement Your Life Plan

Most woodland today has a forest management plan for its use like we have on our property.  We actually have a forester who developed a 50-year plan relating to tree growth, wildlife, and other uses.  The plan has gone through changes since its creation to keep current with new ideas.  As you develop and implement a plan for your life goals, it is important to always be open to positive changes as you move towards your soul’s purpose.
