Short reflections on the connection between Nature and Spirituality that can be used in our daily lives. |
a MONTH at a glance... |
2024 04-19, 6020 - READY FOR PLAY OR WORK – With the improving weather and loss of snow, we woke up the Cats and did a little grounds work while having fun cruising around. We can think of work as something heavy or we can play while we are getting some work done, while moving at a pace that is right and good for us.

2024 04-18, 6019 - DAY CHANGERS – When I start my day with the intention of finding something I am grateful for, such as the miniature daffodils in full bloom, my heart fills with a love that helps sustain me. A moment like that could even possibly change your life for the better.

2024 04-17, 6018 - WAITING FOR FROGS’ EGGS – The little frog pond waits silently for the green frogs to lay their eggs that float like a cloud on the water. There is so much to discover at this time of year, and all year long. There is always something to cause my heart to sing. Click here for the audio podcast recording! |
FINDING THE EVIDENCE – Nature provides a lot of evidence for us that is proof of activity taking place that we may never notice, such as a porcupine eating the bark off a tree. Life provides evidence to those that pay attention for guidance on their walk of life.

2024 04-15, 6016 - A HEART WAITING TO BE SEEN – I am constantly looking for heart signs that indicate to me that I am being supported by incredible guidance from unseen forces which are there for all of us. Lately, I take far more pictures of hearts than I can use in podcasts. I am surrounded by and intend to channel that love for others. Click here for the audio podcast recording! |
2024 04-14, 6015 - THE RUSH IS ON – The water is rushing outside my window on its way down the mountain to the ocean. It is a spring wakeup call and a reminder to all of us that it is time to manifest the goals we set during the winter, giving us a fresh view of life.

2024 04-13, 6014 - THE SIGNS ARE GROWING – The signs that spring is finally taking control are growing each day from warmer weather to the small red flowers on the maple trees. We are also receiving signs that it is time to implement those winter dreams into manifested realities. Click here for the audio podcast recording! |
2024 04-12, 6013 - TRY, TRY, TRY, AGAIN – The daffodils survived the last snow again and are ready to try once more to bloom. There are people who believe in what they want to accomplish and keep trying until they finally succeed. Nature has a lot to teach us. Click here for the audio podcast recording! |
2024 04-11, 6012 – A BLOOMING SURPRISE – As I checked on the latest recovery of the daffodils, I found two crocus blooming in an old, neglected section of the flower garden that I had not touched in a few years. My heart filled with joy, and I thought of people that are late bloomers. They are a joy to me.

2024 04-10, 6011 – THE LAST ROMP OF THE SEASON – I saw a perfect outline of a snowshoe hair in a left-over patch of snow and I knew it was its last romp of the season before it turned to grass. I love the way Nature gives me the opportunity to romp along with the hare as changes in the season are ushered in.

2024 04-09, 6010 – THE ECLIPSE EXPERIENCE – It was a crystal-clear day and we drove some two and a half hours to our son's home to view the total eclipse of the sun. We watched and took photos as best we could. It was interesting to hear the whole town cheering when totality was achieved. It was a beautiful day.

2024 04-08, 6009 – A ONCE IN A LIFETIME DAY – Today many of us will witness an event we have never seen before in our lifetime, a total eclipse of the sun under favorable conditions. Then again, there are events every day that we may never have experienced before. My goal is to cherish moments that may make a positive difference to others.

2024 04-07, 6008 – SPEECHLESS - For the first time that I can remember, in over 6000 podcasts that I have done, I have no voice today. I thought I would share an excerpt from a recording I did several years ago which captures the sounds of the waves moving the jasper stone on Jasper Beach in Machiasport, Maine. Sometimes silence speaks volumes.

2024 04-06, 6007 - THIS TOO WILL PASS – The last couple of days have been an adventure with two 12-hour power outages with only 4 hours in between. I think of all the people that often feel snowed under by life events. I just thanked my Source and sure enough the power came back as I had trusted it would. 2024 04-05, 6006 - WHO’S THE FOOL – The forecast was for an intense early April snowstorm. I prepared by moving the tractor in position to clear away the piles left by the snowplow. I did not plan for the power to go off for 12 hours causing our inside temperature to drop. Who is the fool here, me or the weather?

2024 04-04, 6005 - WARNING SIGNS – The morning dawned with a clear view of the mountains, and it looked like it was going to be good weather, but I could see red in the sky towards the rising sun, and the TV and internet were warning of an approaching storm. The warning signs were clear for those paying attention.

2024 04-03, 6004 - THE SEARCH FOR PEACE – Many people have trouble finding peace of mind, body, and soul. They hold their worries in their heart, and they forget to relax as their mind becomes tense like their bodies. You might think of something you are grateful for and a peaceful place from your past to visit in your mind, and just breathe.

2024 04-02, 6003 - IT’S NOT EASY BEING A DAFFODIL – Rarely do our daffodils have a chance to grow and flower without being beaten down by bad weather. I often tell people that it is not easy being human. We often keep our feelings secret in our hearts, so others do not try to beat us down.

2024 04-01, 6002 - THE MATING GAME – The hills are becoming alive with birds and animals looking for mates to raise families as the spring progresses. Male turkeys are strutting their stuff, and male finches are changing colors. Humans are seeking to pair what is in their hearts with positive outcomes. Click here for the audio podcast recording! |
2024 03-31, 6001 - A GLORIOUS MORNING – Easter is a time for the Christian community to come together to celebrate the resurrection. There are also other holy celebrations taking place this time of year for different beliefs. It is a time for all of earth’s creatures to come together and resurrect a peaceful world.

2024 03-30, 6000 - PODCAST 6000, ONE DAY AT A TIME – Eighteen years ago, I attended a workshop on podcasting, something new to me at the time. Today is my 6000th podcast inspired by Nature, especially on the Mountain. The goal was and is to let the Source channel something positive through me for others. You do the same, one day at a time.

2024 03-29, 5999 - PAYING TRIBUTE – On the day that our sister non-profit is having the Willie Harris Jazz/Blues Jam, I am thinking of all the people that have made a difference in my life and other’s. We do not need to have a big concert to pay them tribute. A word of thanks, a note, or some kind of public mention goes a long way.

2024 03-28, 5998 - POSITIVE THOUGHTS ON CLOUDY DAYS – This month, and most of the winter, the sun has only shone about twenty-five percent of the time. A lot of people depend on the sunlight to feel happy. Doing something positive for others, with gratitude, can help create sunshine in your heart. Click here for the audio podcast recording! |
2024 03-27, 5997 – GUIDANCE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STORM – As I watched our massive snowstorm out the window, at two different times I saw hearts form and disappear. To me that was a sign from my spirit guides that they were watching over us. We all have that guidance, whether you call it God, angels, or something else. 2024 03-26, 5996 – A CONFERENCE AT THE FEEDER – During the recent snowstorm, we noticed that there were several different bird varieties eating at the same time on the feeder. I thought of how great it would be if all the different nationalities in the world could come together with respect for each other.

2024 03-25, 5995 – Zero to 28 – Two days ago we had zero inches of snow on the ground. Now we have 28. So much for spring. Many people had to change their plans. Here in the foothills the weather often interrupts plans. Then again so does life in general. This snow will not last long. Life will resume again.

2024 03-24, 5994 - FEEDING UNDER COVER – It is interesting to me that when we have a snowy day, the birds will show up to feed. I believe they feel safer under the cover of the storm where predators cannot see them. A lot of people like to try new adventures under cover at first, where they feel safer.

2024 03-23, 5993 - THOUGHTS ON BEING CONFUSED – I thought when the calendar changed, it would be spring. Nature has other plans with the biggest snowstorm of the season. We often make plans that are interrupted, causing confusion, making it hard to set our goals. There is an old saying, “If you don’t like the weather, wait a minute; it will change.”

2024 03-22, 5992 - DISCOVERING THE UNSEEN – Recently I discovered evidence of wildlife here that would have remained unseen except for tracks and pictures on our game cameras. A set of well-defined tracks in the fresh coating of snow appear to be a fisher cat. We also have an unseen team that watches over us.

2024 03-21, 5991 - THE FICKLENESS OF SPRING – The calendar now says spring, but nature is being very fickle this year and keeps going back and forth between seasons. At the same time a lot of people are finding life very fickle also. It is a time to listen to your heart.

2024 03-20, 5990 - THE FIRST VISIT OF THE SPRING – The wet conditions improved enough for us to park at the bottom of the road to the Orchard and to hike up to check on the Cabin to see how winter had affected the land. The positive energy was incredible, and part of my goal is to share that energy with others.
